This is looking neat, enough to take me out of vvvvvv inactivity.
INCOMING BUZZKILL
Are you aware that Terry got a video removed because of the music?

i've heard that people've had their videos taken down because it had music from copyrighted video games, but one, it was youtube and not the person who owns it most of the time, and two, i think terry got a notice that his video on vvvvvv was removed without him doing it so obviously im p sure he wouldnt care, and also three, sometimes random people come and claim the video because why not?
i think it only happens on videos that make the person money, for example if someone famous who wasnt in one of those groups that nullify this uploaded a video that had random silence due to something and makes money off of their videos, theyd get a strike because theyre making money off of it but the group that made whatever theyre playing isnt getting it. the video removal doesnt happen with people who dont get money off of their videos, afaik.

Your video resolution should NOT be 640x480. At least make it 1280x720.

you know, maybe his recording software doesn't support 1280x720, or if youre talking about the screen size, the vvvvvv window is not that big and nobody plays vvvvvv in fullscreen anyways.

(also, can you please stop changing the subject to blank spaces? it makes it reaaally obnoxious that i have to go through one extra step to just read a post.)

Fine, Kayya, I won't get rid of my title for once. Just PM me about the matter.

Recording software supports any screen resolutions. If your recording software doesn't support any of the common resolutions (i.e. 1280x720, 1920x1080, etc.), then it's not recording software. If your recording software is so shitty that it can't record big sizes, then at least render the video in 720p.

Also, I play VVVVVV in fullscreen. I find that it is much easier to make precision flips now that it doesn't feel like Viridian is sliding.

my recording software can go up to 1440p but it can't upload to youtube
Then can it output its recording as a file to a location, where then the file can be opened by a video-editing program, where then the recording can be rendered in 720p and output to a specific location, which then the rendered video can be uploaded to YouTube?

Look, the recording software can output in higher resolutions but there was literally no need because VVVVVV is such a retro-styled game.

Just because a game is retro-styled doesn't mean that people won't complain when the only video format you'll upload to YouTube is in 480p. Your video wasn't recorded before 2011, don't put it in 480p.

I think 480p is acceptable. You know, people may not want a super-large, high-quality video using up their hard drive space, although it's not the case here. I find difficulty tolerating videos of quality as low as 240p or 144p, though.

VVVVVV at 2× size is 640×480 anyways, so what's the problem with a 480p video of it anyway?

640x480 isn't the same as 480p. Go look it up. Also, it makes the screen look blurry, which is a problem when the video size is small.

Well...

Quote from: a wise man once said:
480p is an image format, not a resolution. A screen would have to have at least a vertical resolution of 480 lines to do a reasonable job of displaying a 480p picture. How many columns it has will depend on the aspect ratio of the screen. If it's widescreen, around 854x480. If it's standard width, around 640x480 or 720x480, depending.

So yeah, a 480p video can be 640×480.
And about the blurriness... Well, I dunno about that one.

WE ARE STILL DISCUSSING SOMETHING INANE. (also, yes, inane is a word)

That quote also specifies 720x480. I like the double standard that you use. Actually, you didn't even cite your source, so I'll retract my double standard argument. Also, get rid of the multiplication sign alt code you have there; I notice it.

source, you whiner
Anyways, it CAN be 720×480 OR 640×480 (depending), not just one.
And why do you want me to stop using the × sign.

I meant "source", not "where you saw it". If you didn't know, there is a difference between the actual source and where someone saw it. And even then, the source the answerer gives is "Wikipedia", which means I have to dig through its references to find where the fuck 720x640 is mentioned at. Which means that is still not a source.
And why do you want me to stop using the × sign.
Because an asterisk is still accepted as a multiplication sign.

oh my crap why are you so critical on everything

which obviously means × isn't accepted anymore

Nice inferring.

No, it's still accepted, but an asterisk requires less keystrokes than the alt code.
