Ved - The External VVVVVV Editor

Ved

Ved is an external editor for VVVVVV levels!

Features (subject to change):
  • New tools, such as a 7x7 brush, a 9x9 brush, etc, and brushes that cover the entire width or height of a room
  • An undo/redo feature
  • Add spikes to a wall/platform in one click
  • View a map of the entire level in one click, ability to save the map as an image
  • The ability to copy and move rooms, even between different levels
  • Syntax highlighting and basic error reporting in the script editor
  • Level notepad in which you can keep notes, changelogs, ideas and more
  • Search feature for scripts, room names and level notes
  • Plugins feature that allows you to change Ved in almost any way
  • Copying and pasting text
  • Being able to see which flags have been used in the level, and which have not
  • Giving flags names that can be used directly in scripts
  • A simple button that allows you to write an entire script in internal scripting
  • Being able to check if any limits have been reached, like the 500 scripts limit and the limit of 20 trinkets in a level
  • A built-in help feature
  • The ability to compare differences between two versions of a level (or two different levels if you want)
  • Works directly with VVVVVV's level folder, so no need to move levels around. Also supports custom tileset images!
  • Multi-platform

I'd like to fiddle with an alpha version! Is it possible to have a test function that launches the level in VVVVVV?

Is it possible to have a test function that launches the level in VVVVVV?
I was planning on adding a tool that allows you to click a location to test from, and then it'll create a save file with those coordinates so you can open the level in VVVVVV and test from there. That seems like it'd be the fastest way, other than having the level open in VVVVVV as well and reloading it once in a while to test.

Also, wasn't this going to have network capabilities?
If I can get it working, it will!

Yeah, I added entities, optimized loading and saving so it can now load and save 20x20 maps with lots of entities and scripts in 1-2 seconds, and added a right click menu for entities.

I'm gonna make a page with the latest alpha version on it because I keep only sending alpha versions when people ask for them.

It would be awesome to repair a prototype of VVVVVV (hell mode) using the vanilla map

Wow this looks AWESOME! Terry's level editor is really difficult to work with especially when you when to write scripts.

I would absolutely LOVE an alpha version! This looks so awesome when this comes out!  :viridian:
Finally my level can actually be good with this.

Also cool feature: The 'Teleporter' object, however if you'll do then put a warning about the 'broken save' or an automatically placed script with the code:

Yeah, it can already be done by editing entity properties and changing p1 and p2, but I'll probably add a way to resize it with your cursor later. :)

Beware though, a lot of things are unfinished, so placing blocks will either be in manual mode for now (earlier version) or locked in one tileset (latest version).
