Hey, good to see you again! Can't believe it has been almost 9 years for me too (I joined distractionware 2 weeks after you did)

If you're interested, we're mainly on the VVVVVV Discord these days!

Alright, good to hear! :viridian:

Also, if you're interested in seeing where most of the members of this community went nowadays, I recommend joining the VVVVVV Discord!

Hm, that one works for me on Windows 10. Can you try if the version in the attachment works fine? (2021-03-03, 8e88278)

(If you want to change the version of VVVVVV which Ved uses, hold Shift while pressing playtest)

Strange, does that VVVVVV 2.3 work normally when launched outside of Ved, and also playtest levels normally? What's the full version information VVVVVV gives in the main menu (in the bottom right corner)? Also, what operating system are you on?

Hey again!

tOLP 2 isn't out yet, but there has been gradual progress.

As for the community, the VVVVVV Discord is the place to be nowadays (see the sticky)

General Discussion / Server migration (Sep 2020)
« on: 5 Sep 2020, 08:18 »
I've just migrated tolp.nl to a new server! I'm still working on getting all areas of the site working again, but that won't take long.

If you notice anything not working properly, on the forum or on different pages on this site, please tell me!

(If all goes according to plan, I'll also migrate vsix.dev in a few days, but the other admins will hear about that when it happens)

The upcoming 1.8.2 should prevent levels possibly becoming nulled when there's a sudden shutdown, so I'm marking this topic solved!

I've long been thinking we should stop using Cloudflare just because they're a free voluntary man-in-the-middle :shrug2: Technically I don't think we really need any features Cloudflare provides (except leo wanted more aggressive caching of level downloads on vsix.dev I guess, but we can probably easily find a way to keep using it for things like that) and there are a few limitations in place (for example, you can't go beyond a 100 MB upload limit unless you pay $200 per month. Nothing I plan to go over but still). I think the main reason I started using Cloudflare was because AT&T was blocking the entire host back then (because they provided a free hosting option which was subsequently often abused), and at one point they couldn't do that anymore when net neutrality rules became a thing.

For context of this topic: Cloudflare had an outage yesterday and took many sites with it including Discord. I'm personally not as worried about outages, those can happen once in a while.

Prize For The Reckless, you mean?
This isn't about the main game, it's about a demo level for a project. More on that is in the first post.

X and Y are coordinates inside a room, in pixels. For reference, rooms are 320x240 pixels.

What path does VVVVVV give in the player levels menu?

VVVVVV / Re: Getting rid of the loading screen
« on: 25 Feb 2020, 18:29 »
Since the source is released, sure. As far as I remember it's much easier to find the percentage value being compared without anything like debug symbols or the source code since VVVVVV displays the percentage, so you know what to search for in some memory analysis tool (on Windows I used Cheat Engine and on Linux I'm pretty sure I used gdb in some way).

Alright, welcome back!

For becoming a contributor, we want to see any level you made that demonstrates at least basic ability to make rooms and script. It can be a level you already made, and there doesn't have to be a lot of effort put into it; the bar is not that high.

Also, to becoming a tester there's practically no criteria.

This topic is way overdue on this forum. But sometimes people may check back here, and not Distractionware, probably thinking the community has fallen apart. Not at all!

Nowadays we're all active on Discord, in our VVVVVV server: https://discord.gg/Zf7Nzea

Now, as for this forum, it's not going anywhere. Maybe there will be some more activity soon, since I'm thinking of starting a central page for Ved plugins, and this forum would be a logical place for discussion about individual plugins. Or perhaps we'll think of something else, who knows!

Sort of... Everyone's on Discord nowadays.

Either way, hi again!

You might notice signatures are no longer showing up under posts. They're not gone; they're still shown in profiles, and you can re-enable viewing all signatures in topics as well.

I came across a strange phenomenon where one page in a topic was being cut off inconsistently; the signatures some people (including myself) have with 20k characters of chatlogs within spoilers seem to play a role in it. During troubleshooting I had disabled signatures for a bit to check, and frankly I loved how clean everything looked without all the images and banners unrelated to the posts, so I applied this fix for all users.

The phenomenon seems otherwise harmless, so if you want to see all signatures under posts again, you can go to Profile > Modify Profile > Look and Layout and uncheck "Don't show users' signatures."

For those who haven't seen it yet: Ved 1.6.0 has been released!

There are some major new features, including a music editor, and many other things.

I thought the best way to show the most important changes was in a video, so enjoy:

Ved 1.5.0 has been released!

Again, some of the improvements in images:

The levels list now shows dates of last modification! (You can change the date and time formats in the language dialog).
The technical changes to the file-related functions have more effects that can be noticed on Windows: there are no more flashing command prompt windows, and if your account username or your level filenames use international characters or the like, everything should now work smoothly.

This image speaks for itself, and I'm planning to add more helpful features like this to the script editor!

As always, you can find the full list of changes here: https://tolp.nl/ved/download
