Mass Deletion function?
« on: 17 Mar 2017, 08:23 (6 years and 6 months ago) »
A nice feature that should be added to Ved is a feature to quickly hold right click and drag over entities to easily delete them, like in the original VVVVVV editor
Currently, the only way to delete is to right click an entity and delete them one-by-one. This can get a bit tedious.

You can hold shift while right clicking to delete entities without using the context menu. (It's in the "Getting started" help article)

Marking this as solved. :)

Oh, okay. Whoops.

(Just thought I'd mention that this only works with LSHIFT)

I think what you really need are tooltips at the bottom of the screen or something that show all these hotkeys, because nobody reads help articles.

That said, I don’t think all keybinds are in docs, which is an actual problem.

Help articles are the very worst in UI design.

I don’t even see why you have to bring up “UI design”.

Oh, it’s that buzzword again.

Because we're talking about a UI.

I'm also having in mind to make a short video showing some of the lesser known functions in Ved, or making a clear overview of them in some other way.

For example, apart from the changelog entry for b9, I forgot to clearly document that you can jump to scripts in iftrinkets/ifflag/customiftrinkets/customifflag commands with keyboard shortcuts, and also traverse back through the chain to wherever you came from. You can press ctrl+right to jump to a script, and ctrl+left to take a step back!

(Just thought I'd mention that this only works with LSHIFT)
You will also be able to use right shift as of 1.1.0.

Fix the important shit first.

I like how we’re arguing about UI design and shit when Ved’s input buffer is still broken.

For example: If I go to a certain line from Ctrl+F, Ved will replace the line I’m on with its previous input buffer.

How do I reproduce that? (Actually, please start a new topic, idea informer post, or issue for that)

I've seen a lot of dumb takes on here, but "UX is worthless" is among the worst, so congrats
